Dear SDP Families,
As we enter the final month of Summer, we want to thank all of our families for making this season so special! August is always filled with laughter, friendships, outdoor adventures, and unforgettable memories as we wrap up an amazing summer together.
Our teachers have planned plenty of exciting activities to keep children engaged while continuing to foster creativity, confidence, and a love of learning. Thank you for your continued support, partnership, and trust. Please take a moment to read below for this month’s themes, important dates, and reminders.
August Themes:
Throughout the month, children will explore themes such as:
- End of Summer Fun
- Friendship & Teamwork
- Water Exploration
- Outdoor Adventures
- Nature Discovery
- Preparing for a New School Year
Through hands-on activities, creative play, and meaningful learning experiences, children will continue building independence, social skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence as we celebrate the close of another wonderful summer.
Important Dates:
Friday, August 14th – Bubble Show (10:00 AM) Get ready for an exciting and interactive Bubble Show! Children will enjoy a fun-filled experience featuring giant bubbles, bubble tricks, and plenty of smiles as we celebrate summer together.
Water Play Days Water Play will continue throughout August, weather permitting! Please continue sending your child with: * A labeled water bottle
- Sunscreen (labeled if kept at school)
- A bathing suit or extra change of clothes
- Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes
Please make sure all belongings are clearly labeled so they can easily be returned if misplaced.
Spirit Week:
August 24th – August 28th. Let’s celebrate the end of an amazing summer with a fun-filled Spirit Week!
- Monday, August 24th – Sports Day Wear your favorite sports jersey, team shirt, or athletic gear.
- Tuesday, August 25th – Tie-Dye Tuesday Wear your favorite tie-dye outfit.
- Wednesday, August 26th – Walk on the Wild Side Show off your favorite animal prints!
- Thursday, August 27th – Sleepy Summer Thursday Wear your favorite summer pajamas. Friday, August 28th – Summer Vibes Day Celebrate the last week of summer by wearing your favorite summer outfit!
- Friday, August 28th – End-of-the-Year Classroom Parties* Each classroom will celebrate an amazing summer with a special End-of-the-Year Party! If you would like to donate snacks, treats, drinks, or other goodies for your child’s classroom celebration, please let us know. We greatly appreciate your generosity and support in helping make this celebration extra special for our students!
September Enrollment Reminder: As we finalize classroom placements for the upcoming school year, please let us know as soon as possible if there have been any last-minute changes to your family’s enrollment plans. Whether your child will be returning, withdrawing, or if your plans have changed, receiving this information promptly allows us to prepare classrooms, staffing, and enrollment accordingly. Thank you to all of the families who have already communicated their plans!
Summer Weather Reminder: With August temperatures still bringing plenty of sunshine, please continue sending your child to school prepared each day with:
- A labeled water bottle
- Sunscreen (labeled if kept at school)
- Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes
- A complete change of clothes or bathing suit
Please remember that any day may become a Water Play Day depending on the weather. Having an extra change of clothes or bathing suit available each day helps ensure your child is always prepared to participate in the fun.
Summer Health & Safety Reminder: Our teachers will continue encouraging healthy habits throughout the remainder of the summer by promoting hydration, frequent handwashing, sun safety, and active outdoor play while ensuring all children remain safe and comfortable.

Looking Ahead As a reminder, our annual end-of-summer closure will take place Monday, August 31st through Wednesday, September 9th. During this time, our staff will be preparing classrooms and participating in professional development as we get ready for another exciting school year.
