Dear SDP Families,
Welcome back to Small Discoveries Preschool!
We hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing, and fun-filled summer break. We are so excited to welcome our children and families back as we begin the 2026–2027 school year!
A new school year brings new beginnings, new friendships, new experiences, and so many opportunities for our children to learn and grow. Our teachers and administrative team are excited to begin another year filled with meaningful learning experiences, creativity, exploration, and lots of fun!
Thank you for your continued support, partnership, and trust in Small Discoveries Preschool. We are looking forward to making this a wonderful year together.
September Themes:
As we settle into the new school year, our classrooms will be exploring themes such as:
- Welcome Back to School All About Me:
- My Friends & My Classroom
- Families & Community
- Feelings & Emotions
- Fall & Seasonal Changes
- Nature & Fall Exploration
Through hands-on activities, creative play, classroom conversations, and meaningful learning experiences, children will work on building confidence, independence, communication skills, friendships, problem-solving abilities, and a strong sense of belonging within their classroom community.
Important September Dates:
- Thursday, September 10th – Welcome Back! We are officially back and ready to begin the 2026–2027 school year! We are so happy to see all of our families again.
- Monday, September 21st – Yom Kippur School Closed Fall Is Here! As we transition from summer into fall, please remember that temperatures can change throughout the day.
We ask that families send their children to school with weather-appropriate clothing and a complete change of clothes. Please make sure your child has:
- A labeled water bottle
- Weather-appropriate clothing
- A complete change of clothes
- Comfortable, closed-toe shoes
- Any additional items your child may need throughout the day
Please remember to label all belongings with your child’s name so that items can easily be returned if they are misplaced.
Health Records & Universal Health Forms:
As we begin the new school year, our administrative team will be reviewing children’s files to make sure all required records are current and up to date. We will be reaching out directly to families who need to provide an updated Universal Child Health Record or other required health documentation. If you know that your child has recently had a physical examination or received an updated health record, please feel free to send the updated documentation to us so we can update your child’s file. Thank you for helping us keep our records current and ensuring that we begin the new school year prepared!
New School Year Policies & Reminders:
As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, families will also be receiving our updated policies, procedures, school closing information, and important parent reminders. Please take some time to review these materials carefully when they are sent via email. These policies help ensure that our families and staff have a clear understanding of our expectations, procedures, and responsibilities throughout the school year. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and partnership as we begin another successful year together.
Fall Fun Is Coming!
With summer coming to an end, we are excited to welcome all of the fun that comes with fall! Throughout the coming months, children will have opportunities to explore: Apples & harvest
- Fall leaves & changing seasons
- Fall and harvest-themed sensory activities; nature exploration;
- Fall art & crafts
- Outdoor recreation and seasonal discovery
We can’t wait to see all the creativity and excitement that this season brings!

A Special Welcome Back:
We would also like to give a very special welcome back to Ms. Veronika! We are so happy to have her back as we begin another school year together. I will also continue to be onsite and available to our families. If you ever need anything or have a question, concern, or just need someone to speak with, please know that our entire administrative team is here to support you. You are always welcome to reach out to Ms. Veronika, Ms. Rucela, and Ms. Jennifer. We are all here to work together to support your child and your family throughout the school year.
